We started R² Academy because students learn best when someone actually pays attention to them.
Our story
R² Academy Tutoring is a small private tutoring practice based in Toronto, serving the GTA in person and Ontario online. We started because the alternatives — large tutoring chains and unverified gig-style platforms — weren't working for the families around us.
Big chains don't get to know your kid. Their tutors rotate, the curriculum is generic, and the focus is on selling packages. Online marketplaces leave parents to vet strangers themselves. Neither model is built around the actual student.
We're built differently. Every match is hand-picked by us based on subject, grade, and personality. Tutors are vetted before they ever meet a student. And the goal is always the same: real progress on the actual coursework your child is in right now.

How we tutor
Match before method.
A great tutor for one student is the wrong fit for another. We pair students based on subject and personality — not just availability.
Coursework first.
We work from the actual textbook, the actual test, the actual rubric. Confidence comes from mastering what's in front of you — not generic worksheets.
Build independent learners.
Our long-term goal is to make ourselves unnecessary. We teach study habits, note-taking, and how to ask for help — so students don't need a tutor forever.
Where we tutor
In-person — across the GTA
Scarborough, North York, Markham, Pickering, East York, downtown Toronto, and surrounding areas. We come to you — your home, a library, or a quiet local spot.
Online — Ontario-wide
Zoom-based sessions with screen sharing and a digital whiteboard. As effective as in-person for high school and up.
